The super high alpha varieties of Columbus (as well as Tomahawk and Zeus, or CTZ) are used extensively for bittering. Columbus offers aromas of lemongrass, vanilla, orange peel and curry. It is worth noting that Columbus along with the other CTZ varieties have poor storage characteristics and so care should be taken to ensure they are stored well for best results. The BBC Pure Hop Pellet™ is produced using a finer, more uniform grind than standard Type 90 pellets. A sub-zero process – milling and sieving takes place at approx. -35°C (-31 °F) – to prevent hop resins and essential oils from oxidation. The resulting pellets offer a more intense aroma and flavour.

Columbus US BBC Pure Hop Pellets T90 (5kg)
Also known as CTZ (Columbus/Tomahawk/Zeus), this high-alpha dual-purpose hop is valued for both bittering and aroma. It delivers bold vegetal, spicy, and herbal notes alongside sweet fruit, citrus, and floral undertones. Commonly used in American ales, IPAs, imperial red ales, and lagers, Columbus excels in late and dry hopping for added depth and complexity.
