Hallertauer Mittelfrüh is the original regional variety of Hallertau and, with its delicate aroma and average bitterness content, is still very popular today. This hop variety almost disappeared due to its high susceptibility to vertillicum wilt. Thanks to a resurgence in demand and newly available virus-free plants however, the cultivar is making a comeback. Great for use in wheats, altbiers, pilsners, belgian ales and American and German lagers. It offers flavours including aniseed, blackberry, liquorice, citrus fruits and bergamot.
