It features a spicy woodiness of juniper combined with red fruits like strawberry. In cold infusion, it reveals bright citrus, bergamot, lemongrass, black tea, and green fruit aromas. Saphir is ideal for lagers, wheat beers, and other styles that benefit from its delicate complexity.

Saphir was bred at the „Hopfenforschungszentrum Hüll“ and was released in 2000, together with the varieties Smaragd and Opal as new aroma varieties.
